Charnwood

The Resolving Differences project for Charnwood, called 'Connecting Communities', began in January 2002. The initial programme developed and deployed the role of community facilitator across nine Charnwood communities ranging from medium to large sized villages, urban fringe communities and work across four areas of Loughborough, Leicestershire's largest county town.

The project developed further through the commissioning of the development of a new user management system for the Internet, training for facilitators in web reporting and other aspects of new media. The faciltators assisted in the delivery of a range of projects across the district. A second phase of the project from December 2002 saw the development of a small team of facilitators and workshop leaders working on a range of more closely delivered projects and events inclduing work directly aimed at defusing tension.

The Connecting Communities project became an independent initiative in September 2003 and continues to maintain a management steering group, a range of projects and sub-group developments. The project has also become fully engaged in working with the Charnwood Community Cohesion Pathfinder process.
