CharnwoodAbout UsCharnwood Arts is an independent community arts and media organisation based in the Borough of Charnwood in the East Midlands of Britain. It is a registered arts and educational charity (No. 505977). Our work encompasses most art forms including combined arts work and a wide range of approaches from long term community arts projects, performances, outdoor events and publications to Web sites, CD-ROM and video productions, school and community residencies, exhibitions and ongoing groups. We have been sharing and developing a vision with our partners cuttlefish.com for a number of years to increase and enhance public access to the arts, local services and democracy through new technologies. Our core work runs deeper than this and encompasses many roles which stimulate and support local cultural and community development, working in partnerships with around five hundred local groups, schools and organisations and encouraging participation in the cultural life of Charnwood borough and the East Midlands. This is the hidden iceberg of activities that we engage in to initiate ideas and support the work of many local initiatives and organisations. We also undertake many creative projects aimed at developing innovative methods of consultation with a diverse range of groups. Charnwood Arts is committed to developing participation in the arts and media in Charnwood and the East Midlands, UK. Our aim is to creatively engage with any art form or media approach towards creating collective outcomes which give expression to the unique voices of the individual, the group or community with which we are engaged. We are unashamedly geographically focused. Like the concentric rings of a target our primary focus is Charnwood BUT we do work out from or offer opportunities to people beyond Charnwood in a variety of ways including: * Visual and performance work, workshops and residencies toured to the borough from elsewhere. |
