Aims and Objectives
Valuing diversity is now seen as a positive asset and characteristic of Leicester. Challenging negative and racist stereotypes, promoting a positive vision of diversity and translating these messages into action at all levels throughout organisations and communities is required. Young people have demonstrated their eagerness to engage in these activities and it is recognised that they are the members of our communities who are often the most ready to get involved. They are therefore at the heart of the Leicester Pathfinder Community Cohesion programme. They will help to develop a new and compelling vision for the future of diversity and community cohesion by engaging communities in inner and outer areas, and inclusive of all groups, to build trust and understanding.
The Pathfinder action plan will also put in place mechanisms to encourage and assist the local authority and other agencies in getting community cohesion effectively recognised as an issue to be addressed and integrated into mainstream processes and procedures.
